Best Plan Ever for Preventing/Ending School Shootings

Analysis by Kyle A. Lohmeier

As there has been another school shooting, the rights of some 80+-million Americans are under full blown attack by evil leftists and imbecilic liberals. They naturally believe government can stop all future homicides if just the right laws are enacted. They want to ban “assault weapons,” never mind that the first large-scale school shooting, Columbine High School, took place during the ten years Clinton’s “assault weapons” ban was in effect; like all gun-control laws, it was worthless.

I’ve gone on endlessly here in previous posts about how pathetic, dumb, unrealistic and dependent-upon-powerful-voodoo-majiks all “ideas” for additional gun-control laws are. As the Left has no new ideas ever, all their gun-control ideas are the same as those I’ve previously annihilated – so, there’s little sense in doing so again here.

Instead, I’ll share what I know to be the only real solution to the problem of school shootings. As my idea is actually a good one, it doesn’t require any new regulations of people or guns. In fact, it only requires government repeal regulations – specifically any regulation that makes it illegal for faculty or staff to carry a concealed handgun in a school. Beyond that, my plan only requires some simple, basic training of students and faculty and posting of a sign outside the building that reads: “Staff/faculty is armed and will use lethal force to defend students.”

Yes, I can hear the lefties wailing already about the idiocy of expecting underpaid teachers to become combat soldiers and hunt down a school shooter. Then they’ll point out that at least one armed police officer was outside Parkland High School when the shooting started – and stayed there. Of course, this only proves my point: the only guns useful for stopping a school shooting must be in the school and upon the hip of a potential victim when the shooting starts. Expecting municipal revenue extortionists (you call them “cops”) to run toward the sound of gunfire when there’s nothing they can seize as asset forfeiture is just silly and unrealistic. Parkland, Pulse Night Club, even all the way back to Columbine; when the lead is flying inside a building, expect the cops to wait outside till it stops.

Obviously, simply having a concealable 5-shot .38 Special isn’t much good in the scene of complete chaos school shooting events become. That’s where the training aspect of my idea comes in. Instead of having students go flooding into the hallway where they’re easy to shoot by the gunman in the hallway, teachers and students should be trained, conditioned and even drilled to run to the nearest classroom when they hear gunfire, get to the opposite wall, and get low. If possible, toss some desks and chairs in front of the door (most classrooms have just one) to make it harder for the bad guy to get in.

Now, if the school’s students, faculty and staff all did this, there would be no victims in the hallways for the bad guy to shoot. This will force him to either re-think his commitment to the shooting-spree, or start searching individual classrooms for victims. And it is here where the advantage gets tilted away from his favor. Students pouring into hallways favored the Parkland shooter as it put all his targets into what people who know about firearm tactics call a “fatal funnel” specifically, the hallways themselves. A “fatal funnel” defeats the typical rule of “big sky, small target, tiny bullet” by getting rid of the “big sky” part and putting all the small targets into a tiny space. The key then, is to force the bad guy into a “fatal funnel” of his own.

After the students have poured into a classroom while gunfire echoes through the halls outside the room (making it difficult to determine the direction they’re coming from) the teacher/staff/faculty helps barricade the door as best as can be and then gets low and behind some sort of concealment his or herself. From there, they draw their concealed handgun and level it at the door, the only point of ingress the shooter has, while using a desk or chair or similar as a rest to steady their aim.

Here, action beats reaction. While the shooter is pushing the door open against the obstacles placed there, he’s standing in his own fatal funnel, the doorway. Making a successful shot against him from across a classroom from a resting, supported position doesn’t require 14 weeks of combined army basic/infantry training, nor does it require the 19 weeks of training a police officer gets on average. This skill-set can be learned in an afternoon and, with practice, can be turned into muscle memory. In fact, for those teachers who actually enjoy range-time and have a concealed carry permit and appropriate handgun – it likely already is muscle memory. Now the mass-shooter’s game of shooting fish in a bucket has become “Let’s Make a Deal!” What is behind door B101? A bunch of soft targets, or a .38 Special hollow-point to the face? How badly is the shooter really likely to want to find out?

Now, if this plan were adopted nationwide, and signage put up around schools alerting people to the fact that there are some – you’ll never know who or how many – faculty/staff on campus who are armed, the number of attempted school shootings would plummet. Events where 17 kids are slaughtered, while no one with guns tries to help, them would be brought to immediate and permanent end. And, isn’t that the point of all this wailing and gnashing of teeth since Parkland? Then, Leftists either need to embrace this plan, or admit that their motivations have nothing to do with protecting kids and everything to do with seeing their precious state bully people they don’t like by taking their scary black guns away.

Of course, this bit of full-disclosure here won’t help the Left embrace this awesome plan, but whatever: it’s not even my plan. All I’ve done is taken the NRA “Self Defense in the Home” curriculum and scaled it up to a school. Yes, the NRA trains homeowners to NOT go looking for the intruder in the middle of the night but to rather barricade in place in the bedroom you’re likely already in with the gun leveled at the door, ready to verbally challenge the intruder if he approaches, and lethally challenge him if he enters. This is why hearing Lefties talk about armed teachers hunting the shooter down and hitting kids in the crossfire is so cringy – they know literally nothing about anything and their opinions on all things are beyond meaningless.

Naturally, given that this idea is simple and would work, the left and the government will ignore it in favor of meaningless gestures that violate the human rights of all non-mass-shooters while doing exactly nothing to prevent the next mass-shooting.
