Trump Vows to Waste Money on ISIS, Dems Want it Wasted Differently

Analysis by Kyle A. Lohmeier

I’m not sure which makes me more nauseous when the president and congress, any president and congress, argue about budgetary stuff – the size of the numbers involved, or what the morons want to do with all that stolen loot.

Yesterday, Reuters reported that President Trump is preparing to ask congress for a nine-percent budget increase for the U.S. military, or about $54 billion. This would be offset by $54 billion in cuts to non-military spending, but not including federal entitlement programs that are bleeding working Americans white. Instead, Trump will pilfer the unneeded budgets of State Department programs and Foreign Aid to pay for the increase in military spending, which already tops $500 billion per year to fund a military that has been fighting non-stop for 15 years on behalf of the oligarchs’ business interests.

Of course, taking any money away from a leftist’s pet program is the end of the world, even if you’re not taking money away from the programs said socialist chooses to cry about when asked.

“’A $54 billion cut will do far-reaching and long-lasting damage to our ability to meet the needs of the American people and win the jobs of the future,’ Pelosi said. ’The president is surrendering America’s leadership in innovation, education, science and clean energy,’” Reuters quoted Nancy Pelosi as saying.

Of course, just like any cut is too much, any boost to a lawmaker’s pet programs is never enough.

“Over the course of the Obama Administration, our military funding was cut 20 percent while the world grew more dangerous. While we cannot repair all of the damage done by those cuts in a single year, we can and should do more than this level of funding will allow,’ Representative Mac Thornberry said in a statement.

‘The administration will have to make clear which problems facing our military they are choosing not to fix,’ he said,” Reuters quoted the Republican Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee as saying yesterday.

Sadly, what’s really going on isn’t much better than Pelosi’s fantasy world, and Trump has made it somewhat clear what “problems” he intends to “fix.” Instead of “surrendering America’s leadership” in things we don’t lead in, Trump wants that 9 percent budget increase to militarily defeat an organization that isn’t a military threat to the United States: ISIS, or Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, which doesn’t have an air force, or navy – just a bunch of Toyota Hilux pickups with soviet-era machineguns mounted to them. It’s very difficult to modify any Japanese pickup truck to be able to cross 20 miles of English Channel, forget sailing them across the ocean. And, they don’t fly under their own power.

Yet, despite the decided non-threat ISIS poses, the Pentagon has delivered a plan to defeat it, according to Reuters.

“Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis told reporters that it was the framework for a broader plan and looked at Islamic State around the world, not just Iraq and Syria.

Davis said the plan would define what defeating Islamic State meant and was one that would ‘rapidly’ defeat the militant group,” Idrees Ali wrote for Reuters yesterday.

The U.S. has never had a president more committed to the murder of foreign nationals on their own soil than Barack Obama. Theoretically, if there was a way to defeat ISIS rapidly from the air, the blood-soaked peace-prize winner would have done it already.

“The Baghdad-based U.S. commander on the ground, Army Lieutenant General Stephen Townsend, has said he believes U.S.-backed forces would recapture both of Islamic State’s major strongholds – the cities of Mosul in Iraq and Raqqa in Syria – within the next six months,” Ali wrote.

Ah, so, yeah. We’re not talking about increased air strikes. We’re talking about getting young American fighting men and women killed so Russian and American oil oligarchs can get pipelines built and wells dug. I’d almost rather see a $54 billion increase in Housing and Urban Development’s budget – if my money is going to be comprehensively wasted, it might as well be wasted within the United States not murdering anyone.
