Analysis by Kyle A. Lohmeier
In just over 24 hours, a group of humans will gather in front of a building created by other humans. Once assembled, said humans will perform a goofy ritual that will somehow magically place a new human in charge of some 300 million humans. Statists refer to this romantically as the “peaceful transfer of power.” I think of it as another missed opportunity to eschew this whole stupid having-a-government thing altogether.
Given the absurdity of having rulers, and the fact we get a new figurehead tomorrow, now’s a good time to review all the dumb things that have happened for the last eight years because we chose to have a president and government; and shit ones at that.
Endless war
More than any of his other innumerable miserable failures, the greatest legacy Barack Obama will be able to boast is that his entire presidency represented 2,921 days of non-stop death around the world. On every single one of Obama’s days in office, the Nobel Peace Prize winner murdered at least one foreign national – often an innocent civilian. No other American president has presided over two complete terms of continuous, uninterrupted death and violence. Indeed, the defense contractor cronies of this administration have never had a better friend at 1600 Penn. Ave. than they did in Obama.
Endless regulation
Presiding over a largely jobless “recovery” that naturally only benefitted the top 1% of Americans, the only ones Obama cares about, Obama has done more harm to the private sector of this country than any other president since LBJ. This is evidenced by the fact that in 2015 the government’s regulatory sector experienced growth at a greater rate than that of the actual economy. In other words, government was smothering our unfree, corporatist market faster than our crippled market could make money under these new regulatory burdens.
Endless suffering
Obviously, no retrospective on the abject failure that is the person and career of Barack Hussein Obama would be complete without a glimpse at his most amazing failure – the misnamed Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, known better as Obummercare. No other modern piece of legislation stands as a clearer, more obvious indictment of the fundamental evil that the very existence of the state represents than Obummercare. I’d refer to it as “thinly-veiled collectivism” but there is no veil even trying to obscure that fact, however thin – it is collectivism and the idiot American Leftists who clamored for it were sold exactly what they were asking for and were too damn dumb to see it. These same animated brainstems would be frothing for Bernie a few years later. Everything from the rollout of the initial shitty plans to the quick pullout of more and more private companies from the boondoggle, to the rapidly upward-spiraling costs represented a complete failure of what Americans were told Obummercare would do even though every single shitty consequence was painfully obviously predictable.
Endless unrest
Somehow, America’s first black president did less for race relations than did America’s first first black president, Bill Clinton. While Clinton was a terrible president, he had the benefit of being stymied at times by congress, which prevented him from doing even worse things; like letting the Hildabeast create a proto-Obummercare that would have bankrupted us all by now. If anything, the 90s marked a high-point for race relations in the USA. We had “White Men Cant’ Jump” and “In Living Color.” I’m told rap music was good back then too – it was certainly popular, but then, so was disco at one point – as it all sounds like terrible boring repetitive noise with an imbecilic narrative spoken over the top, I’m not a good one to judge. Sure, we had Rodney King and Malice Green and OJ Simpson, but even then things didn’t deteriorate to the point where we ended up with #BlackLivesMatter and, worse yet, the alt-right. At least in the 90s, even with its annoying PC-culture – which seems muted in the face of today’s “social justice” movement – it was generally understood that racial politics was something best left to Nazis, apartheid South Africa and other reminders from the past of how destructive racial politics is. Today, under the atmosphere fostered by Obama, both Left and Right cling to their racial identities and affiliated, idiotic politics thereof, with the result being awful national atmosphere of strained relations between all races and groups that we have now. In most actual, practical instances, the president is the nation’s “emotional leader” more than anything else, and even in this task Obama proved unfit.
Endless debt
As the old saying goes, “stupid hurts.” Consistent, unerring stupidity leads to failure and failure tends to not just hurt, but cost money. Obama’s stupidity started right out of the gate and he never looked back. Way back in 2009, then-freshly-inaugurated President Obama rammed a massive government handout to a former fundraiser of his through congress, resulting in a $535 million loan to California-based Solyndra, a company that manufactured solar panels. Well, they did manufacture solar panels, for less than two years after getting a bunch of stolen money, then they went bust; just as accountants even within the government (who were ignored) predicted would happen.
Undaunted, Obama stole and wasted the money of productive Americans at an unimaginable pace for the rest of his term. Of course, of 243 million some American adults, only about half actually pay income taxes – most of the rest are already on the “to” side of the tax/welfare equation – Obama could only squeeze so much blood from a stone. So, he’s spending the money of future American taxpayers, provided the other half of American adults don’t wander over to the “to” side as well; which is where the millennials and other assorted Bernouts are quickly piling up. When Obama took office in 2009, the total US national debt was just over $10 trillion. Today, it stands at $19.3 trillion; Obama has wasted more money that the taxpayers haven’t even gone to work for yet than any other president in the history of this nation. His awful, evil and inept presidency will burden American taxpayers for generations to come.
Conclusion
Thrashing the “legacy” of Obama is the lowest of all low-hanging fruit. That he’s a total failure is blatant, obvious and top-of-mind recent – and therefore eviscerating his eight years of suck is easy. The fact is, however, this retrospective would have read about the same regardless of who it was about. Government sucks. Anarchists are fond of pointing out that if the efficacy of a system is dependent upon who is in charge, the system is terrible. In the USA, we ignore that simple truth and instead tell ourselves every four years that the system is great, we just need the right person at the helm. Never mind that at the end of every one of these four- or eight-year reigns, the conclusion is always: well, that sucked; let’s hope the new guy does a better job. Wash, rinse, repeat, suffer under serfdom.
We are homo sapiens sapiens. We are the acme of evolution upon this nondescript rock that whips around this equally unremarkable yellow dwarf star we call Sol. We are the closest things in the known universe to the deities we ourselves imagined and created. Every atom of our bodies came from a star that blew up billions of years ago. We are a very part of a universe that exists without rulers, yet conforms to immutable rules governing the physical constants that give our universe shape and structure. I believe such is our destiny as well – to live with the rules we need to facilitate a just and free society but without rulers to exploit and enslave us with lies and violence. Tomorrow marks yet another day of humanity, of 300 million some humans, again failing to live up to their potential as self-governing free individuals.
