A Suggestion for ‘Antifa’ Cowards

Opinion by Kyle A. Lohmeier

Once again this past Sunday saw a hitherto peaceful rally – once again in Berkeley, California – disrupted and turned into a street brawl by black-clad cowards calling themselves “Antifa” or “Anti-Fascist” – a nod to the earliest such movements that were formed in Europe as a response to an actual fascist dictator, Benito Mussolini. Today’s version are mostly trust-fund students and the disappointing progeny of well-heeled Gen-Xers and elder Millennials whom think that everyone who disagrees with their college professors is a fascist. Also, despite having lived very comfortably off of its fruits in their parents’ McMansion before going off to get a mostly-pointless four-year degree, today’s Antifa opposes capitalism as well as any sort of perceived bigotry against unapproved targets.

Oftentimes, the rallies these chickenshit Antifa pansies disrupt are stupid and terrible, like the one in Charlottesville, Virginia. Often, however, the rallies are simple and peaceful – as was the case in Berkeley this past Sunday, until Antifa showed up.

Jumping over plastic and concrete barriers, the group (Antifa) melted into a larger crowd of around 2,000 that had marched peacefully throughout the sunny afternoon for a ‘Rally Against Hate’ gathering.

Shortly after, violence began to flare,” the Washington Post reported.

You read that right folks, Antifa – supposedly primarily motivated by a desire to stamp out racism – attacked a gathering called “Rally Against Hate.”

Apparently, an Associated Press reporter witnessed the event and confirmed the violence was started by Antifa – as it almost always is. We’ve seen this pattern over and over now for a year or so: A group holds a rally or gathering, Antifa shows up and initiates violence against the demonstrators. They throw rocks, they start fires, they mob people and assault them when the odds are heavily in their favor.

Another was attacked by five black-clad antifa members, each windmilling kicks and punches into a man desperately trying to protect himself,” The Washington Post reported.

At first this pattern proved promising as it kept bringing embarrassingly stupid alt-right racist types and whiny communist leftist types into direct physical conflict with the theoretical possibility of both sides thinning the other out until all were dead along the cancerous movements they represent. Sadly, when it comes to the actual physical confrontation part, the melees are little more than advanced Live-Action Role Playing (LARPing) that has left all the agitators on both sides so far disappointingly alive. Clearly, the problem isn’t going to kill itself off.

So, today, I offer a proposal to the trust-fund kids of Antifa; a way to break out of this annoying pattern of miscreant behavior that has made it impossible for even such liberal bastions as the Washington Post to report on you favorably anymore. My proposal is a very simple one, actually. So simple, in fact, that even Leftists should be able to pull it off without throwing a rock at anyone:

Instead of violently disrupting other people’s rallies and cowardly assaulting those in attendance, why don’t you hold a rally of your very own and use it to articulate your opposition to the right of each and every individual human to freely express him or herself? It would be immensely helpful to Antifa’s cause to have a representative or spokesperson stand up – he or she can even keep their mask/security blanket on – and explain why the human right to free speech needs to be curtailed and in what way, to what extent, upon whose judgment and by whose enforcement.

Can there even be a principled opposition to the right of free speech? Antifa seems to think so, and being the only ones who do they are the vanguard of this movement to stifle human rights – they ought then be the ones to fully explain in detail exactly what their opposition to fundamental liberty entails.

I, for one, would thoroughly enjoy being lectured by a child using his inherent right to free speech as to why the right to free speech is evil and needs to be violently crushed and by whom. Particularly if drinks were served at the venue.
