Trump Warns Syria Not to Repeat Gas Attack Syria Didn’t Commit

Analysis by Kyle A. Lohmeier

President Donald Trump, gave us all an awful fright yesterday by declaring that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was preparing to mount a chemical weapons attack, presumably against his own people, and added that Syria and its military would pay a “heavy price” if they do carry out such an attack. Naturally, Americans were reminded of just two months ago when Trump poured 60 Tomahawk cruise missiles into the country, hitting mostly nothing, in response to a poison gas attack the Syrian government had nothing to do with.

“According to the Pentagon, the activity indicates that the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is actively pursuing preparations at Shayrat airfield to use such weapons in its ongoing civil war that has torn the country apart. The US contends that the Assad regime used chemical weapons two months ago in an attack launched from Shayrat that killed dozens of civilians, prompting swift retribution from American military forces that fired 60 cruise missiles at the base.

Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis said that the recent activity ‘involved specific aircraft in a specific hangar … Both of which we know to be associated with chemical weapons use’.

Mr Davis said the activity occurred during ‘the past day or two’. He did not say how the United States collected its intelligence,” Clark Mindock wrote for The Independent yesterday.

I’ll go ahead and tell you how and where the pentagon collects its intelligence: they pull it out of their own asses.

All credible evidence known to exist of the April gas attack – for which US taxpayers paid a “heavy price” of $1.87 million per missile pointlessly launched – suggests the rebels against Assad’s regime themselves carried it out. The most damning piece of evidence from that attack was the published photograph of the canister from which the poison gas came (see above).

“(Theodore A.) Postal notes that the canister appears to have been clearly smashed on the ground and not launched from a plane as the United States contests.

‘The explosive acted on the pipe as a blunt crushing mallet,’ Postol said. ‘It drove the pipe into the ground while at the same time creating the crater.

‘Since the pipe was filled with sarin, which is an incompressible fluid, as the pipe was flattened, the sarin acted on the walls and ends of the pipe, causing a crack along the length of the pipe and also the failure of the cap on the back end’ … ‘No competent analyst would miss the fact that the alleged sarin canister was forcefully crushed from above, rather than exploded by a munition within it,’” reads a portion of The Free Thought Project’s story on the alleged sarin attack; Postol may well be the world’s foremost expert on ballistic delivery of chemical weapons and his bio is included in the linked story.

Given that Trump has already attacked Syria for totally trumped-up reasons just a couple months back, it’s not unreasonable to suspect he may do so again. The official reason for the tomahawk volley into Syria in April was nothing but a lie, and therefore there’s no reason to suspect the regime wouldn’t again lie its way into a rationalization for more military intervention.

So, that’s the “who,” “when,” “what,” “where,” and “how” of it. When it comes to government and its endlessly self-serving, purely evil machinations, it’s always figuring out the “why” of it that’s tricky.

American and Russian oligarchs are battling over something in the region, likely oil and pipeline routes. The American defense industry oligarchs benefit from all military action, so, winding up the violence in Syria is a win-win for them. It will get particularly profitable for them if Russian President Vladimir Putin makes good on his promise to treat US coalition craft operating on the wrong side of the Euphrates as targets.

“Mr. Assad has been pictured visiting the Russian air base Hmeymim in western Syria recently, marking his first visit to a base where Russian jets take off to support his war effort. Those photos show Mr. Assad in the cockpit of a Russian Sukhoi SU-35 warplane…” The Independent reported.

And here we have some indication, finally, as to what the American defense industry oligarchs will get out of this potential escalation with Russia – the contracts to replace the scores of Western aircraft savaged by the highly-advanced Russian Flanker. Who knows? Such embarrassing air losses might just be enough to provoke the Pentagon to re-start the needless and cripplingly-expensive F-22 Raptor program. Not that a multirole warplane can ever compete with a dedicated fighter like the Flanker, but then, that won’t matter to the oligarchs when they get a fat new gob of taxpayer money to enjoy.

Whatever the Trump regime ends up doing, rest assured a crony somewhere gets a windfall and all us serfs get is an ear-load of lies as to why it’s all happening.
